It makes us very proud to be able to say that the Dieci telehandlers are often used by Civil Protection, Armed Forces, Fire Department and Formula 1 Rescue Team.
These entities choose our vehicles for several reasons: versatility, reliability and possibility of customization with special attachments.
Civil Protection is an institution that takes different forms and names all over the world: in the United States it is the Federal Emergency Management Agency, in Germany Bundesanstalt Technisches Hilfswerk, in France Sécurité Civile and so on… All these entities have the task of coordinating at national level the forecast, prevention, management and overcoming of disasters and catastrophes, both human and natural. They must therefore intervene in any emergency situation, not only of environmental type such as earthquakes or floods, but also in health situations such as the recent Covid-19 pandemic.
Although the Civil Protection tries to predict these situations, it is absolutely impossible to know in advance what calamity will occur.
Understanding, therefore, which vehicle will be needed is extremely complicated; the only solution is to have versatile vehicles that can solve different needs.
In April 2016 a magnitude 7.8 earthquake devastated the province of Manabi in Ecuador.
In such cases, even before the rubble is cleared, the priority is to recover services such as electricity and water. The Dieci telehandlers proved to be ideal for moving easily through the roads still cluttered with rubble and for reaching the tangles of the broken cables with the passenger carrier.
After the tragic structural collapse of the Morandi Bridge in Genoa on 14 August 2018, the Civil Protection had to demolish the buildings under the eastern section.
The hydraulic gripper used for this operation was constantly supported by a telehandler with a water cannon mounted on its boom; in this way the water spray prevented the spread in the environment of asbestos and harmful dust present in the debris.
Like civil protection, the Fire Department must cope with a wide variety of emergency situations.
Having Dieci telehandlers in its fleet has proved to be strategic for the German THW in many situations: from clearing rubble with its shovel, to transporting objects or people at height using its basket.
Thanks to the four-wheel drive and the sealed cabin ventilation system, this telescopic handler can even pass through a curtain of smoke and flame to extinguish fires at their source.
During catastrophes caused by bad weather the telescopic boom can reach unsafe chimneys, damaged roofs and animals swept away by floodwater.
They are also used in roadside assistance to remove crashed vehicles and clear the roadway of debris and scraps.
In addition to assault vehicles, the armed forces must necessarily have logistics units at their disposal. The deployment of an intervention force, in fact, requires an organization capable of moving considerable quantities of material in just a few hours: armaments, fuel, food, medical and electronic equipment. Everything needed to enable the military to operate, must be collected and transported, in the shortest possible time, to the designated destinations in the right order of priority.
For this reason the choice of a telehandler is ideal: it is machine for intensive applications such as logistics, where it is necessary to operate with great precision and according to tight schedules. In addition, a Dieci telehandler is able to demonstrate versatility and ability to quickly adapt to unpredictable situations, so frequent in the “military” context.
Another strong point is that a Dieci telehandler (like all Dieci vehicles, see for example the vehicles used in quarries and mines *** pillar MINING link ) is suitable for use in extreme climatic and environmental conditions: it can work in the desert or in the polar cold with no fear.
Formula 1 and Moto GP are the most followed technological sporting events focused on excellence. In this context speed, precision and attention to detail are essential.
That is why being chosen to operate in these worlds is a guarantee of excellence.
The Dieci telehandlers serve in the rescue teams of the Sochi (Russian Grand Prix), Hungaroing (Hungarian Grand Prix) and Catalunya (Spanish Grand Prix) racetracks.
These vehicles in a few seconds are able to hook and remove the crashed cars while the marshals clean the dangerous fragments from the track.
The whole operation must be very fast and carried out perfectly, moreover, it is possible that they have to be carried out dangerously close to the cars still on the track, which zigzag to keep the tires warm.
A Dieci telehandler is the official vehicle of the SUZUKI ECSTAR team racing in Moto GP.
In addition to unloading all the racing hardware (motorbikes, tire sets, fuel, oil, etc.) the telehandler was used to assemble the Paddock: a structure contained in two trailers and three containers, which consists of: mobile workshop, telemetry, meeting room, drivers’ rooms, and relaxation area with veranda on the second floor.
Thanks to the Dieci telehandlers and Suzuki qualified technicians all this was assembled in only 5 hours.
Formula 1 and Moto GP is the highest performance category in car and motorcycle racing; therefore, modesty aside, we can safely say that the Dieci machines represent the best of the best in telehandlers!
Civil Protection, Army, Fire Brigade, and other special entities are units that have to cope with extraordinary events and operate in extreme situations, this often requires special equipment and customized solutions for special needs.
Let’s take the example of the 39 Icarus 40.14 telehandlers supplied by Dieci srl to the German Bundesanstalt Technisches Hilfswerk (Federal Agency for Technical Relief, or THW).
Being vehicles designed to operate in any emergency conditions, the THW required special equipment.
A prototype was prepared thanks to the cooperation between the Dieci Research and Development department, Dieci Deutschland in Giessen, and the dealer Tiedemann Werksvertretungen.
The modified Icarus 40.14 is an exceptional vehicle ready to work in disasters and unforeseen situations.
The cab equipment include:
In addition, the vehicle has been equipped with:
Without needing a full customization of this model, the Dieci telehandlers have a wide range of accessories that make them extremely versatile and super-functional machines.
In case of snow, for example, a self-leveling snow plough blade turns a telehandler into a manageable snow plough, which can even reach roofs.
A rotating hydraulic grapple/saw can be used for securing large trees.
This Kinshofer KM 634-0.35-3Z grapple mounted on a rotary telehandler with a lifting height of almost 30 meters (like the Pegasus 45.30) allows cutting the highest peaks and branches, logs weighing up to 2000 kg.
Above all, it manages this operation in total safety, even near buildings.
Thanks to the telescopic boom, the branch is simultaneously grasped and cut and then gently placed on the ground.
